There’s an old saying: “Money makes the world go round.”
Money isn’t everything, but it’s essential. Throughout history, money has always been a hot topic.
As people reach middle age, they understand the importance of money even more. You shouldn’t lose yourself for money, but you should know how to save.
The other day, a friend sent me a private message:
“My mother got sick and was hospitalized. My other siblings avoid us when they see us. They were also raised by our mother, but they don’t come to take care of her, fearing that she will burden them. I took my mother to the hospital alone, and suddenly I felt grateful that I had money in my pocket. What would I do if I didn’t?”
As people reach middle age, their parents get older and their health deteriorates.
Some elderly people have many children, but some of them are unreliable. Therefore, as a middle-aged person, you must have money in your pocket. Otherwise, you will feel more helpless when your parents get sick and you have no money at the hospital.
Middle-aged people save money not only for themselves but also for their parents.
I remember when my grandmother got seriously ill when I was young. Everyone wanted to give up on treatment, but only my father didn’t. At that time, my father’s brother-in-law said to him, “Tell your father: nowadays, money can save lives. If you don’t have money, give up! Anyway, our family doesn’t have money to treat your grandmother. Go back and tell your father that we should give up if we don’t have money.”
At that time, my father felt very helpless. He watched my grandmother shed tears countless times on the sickbed, while the other sisters-in-law ignored her.
Later, it was my mother’s family that provided the money to cure my grandmother.
After this incident, my father realized how important it is to save money. He made a lot of money in the past, but he lent it to others and didn’t save it in the bank. So when my grandmother got sick, there was no money left.
Several of my father’s sisters also borrowed a lot of money from him, but when my grandmother got sick, they refused to pay back the money.
Middle-aged people need to work hard to save money and earn money. After having money, don’t lend it to others casually. You should know that once you lend it to others, they may not pay it back in the future.
Middle-aged people need to put their money in a safe place, such as a bank. People need to have the ability to prevent risks. When you encounter difficulties, many people will stay away from you. Only having money in your pocket is the real deal.
A long time ago, I watched a TV series, and it didn’t leave much of an impression on me at that time. Now, however, I feel deeply touched by it.
Two children lived in the same neighborhood. One child had excellent grades but came from a poor family. The other child had poor grades but came from a wealthy family.
The child with excellent grades always ranked at the top from elementary school to university. The child with poor grades performed poorly from elementary school to university.
Many people may think that students with good grades will find very good jobs after graduation. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The student with good grades found many jobs after graduation, but they all required overseas study experience. Although his grades were excellent, he was still rejected because he didn’t have the experience of studying abroad.
The student with poor grades went to study in Italy after graduating from university. After three years of study, he obtained a master’s degree from a third or fourth-tier university in Italy and then found an excellent job after returning to China.
So the student with good grades always saved money and sent his children abroad early.
Middle-aged people need to support their children. No one wants their children to fall behind. Many people aspire to study abroad. Studying abroad is not about admiring foreign things but rather about the current situation where overseas students are given priority.
Graduating from the top universities in China is not as competitive as returning from third or fourth-tier universities abroad. The current situation and environment have put too much pressure on middle-aged parents.
If you want your children to do better, you need to invest more in their education. People always receive the basic nine-year compulsory education, but after graduation, you realize that it’s not enough. If you want your children to do better, you must let them learn more.
The more you invest in your children, the more outstanding they will be in the eyes of others. They will gain more recognition in this world.
So, as middle-aged parents, the key is to work hard and save money.
During adolescence, I was always struck by a poem:
“Life is not just about the struggle in front of us, but also about poetry and distant places.”
So, I yearned for a spontaneous trip and often wrote inspiring words on paper.
But as I reached middle age, I became more realistic. Youth doesn’t understand the necessities of life or the hardships of life. Those who haven’t been polished by life often have many fantasies.
As people reach middle age, they need to understand that writing poetry takes time, and spontaneous trips require money.
If you write poetry but don’t make money, you’ll find your life getting worse. If you want to travel, you need money.
The life of a middle-aged person is about the necessities of life and the trivial matters that entangle life. Therefore, people become more and more practical. They realize that whether it’s poetry or distant places, it’s all talk without money.
Middle-aged people should also understand that the best way of life is not poetry or distant places, but having money. With money, middle-aged people have poetry and distant places.
In real life, few middle-aged people say, “I don’t like you because you smell of money.”
Only naive people say that. Middle-aged people rarely mention it because they know that only money talks.
